I Matter: A Cristo Rey Story
This fall, I went to a museum for the first time. It changed my life.
At the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City, I learned a lot about the Holocaust that I never knew. It opened my eyes to a lot—great sadness and suffering, but also a stronger appreciation for diversity:
Cristo Rey Newark High School has taught me that race, ethnicity, and religion don’t matter. We’re all valuable. We all matter.
When I transferred to Cristo Rey Newark High School last fall, I was nervous. My mom is a single mother, and decided that moving from Jamaica to Newark would provide better opportunities for my sister and me. At Cristo Rey, I felt right at home. We don’t see color at this school. Everyone just gets along.
This incredible school wouldn’t exist without donors like you. I’m writing today to ask you to consider making a year-end gift to Cristo Rey Newark High School. If you’ve already made your gift to Cristo Rey, thank you very much for your support!
My Cristo Rey Story is all about acceptance, and the recognition that every single person in this world has potential. Your gift can help students like me reach their potential.

PS— Your gift funds great things like Cristo Rey’s Corporate Work Study program. My family doesn’t have the money for private school tuition, so I’m working in he Advancement Office to help cover the cost.
