Why Cristo Rey Newark?

Dear Prospective Students and Families,

Thank you for your interest in Cristo Rey Newark High School! We are part of a national network of schools numbering more than 35 high schools across the country. The Cristo Rey model provides a unique combination of college preparatory education with hands-on professional work experience. As we begin our 11th year, we continue making amazing strides.  Since our first graduating class in 2011, 100% of our graduates have been accepted to four-year colleges and they have earned more than $50 million in awards and scholarships.

The Corporate Work Study Program is supported by professional job partners who are committed to offering life-changing opportunities to work in business and corporate environments for each students’ four years of high school. Not only does the Corporate Work Study Program provide an invaluable experience, but it also pays for the majority of their tuition. A Cristo Rey education makes private schooling affordable for students residing in the greater Newark area and beyond. The average family contribution is approximately $100-150 per month.

This very reasonable tuition provides each student with high-quality, high-energy, fully-committed teachers, a college prep curriculum, courses on professionalism and business literacy, ACT test prep, exposure to corporate America, and a free or reduced hot breakfast and lunch program. We offer a wide array of after school sports and activities, and access to a national network of colleges and universities actively seeking the Cristo Rey-educated student.

While we, the faculty and staff, believe in the mission of Cristo Rey and all it has to offer, we recognize the unique challenges presented by our model of education. The ideal Cristo Rey student is eager to work in a professional setting through our Corporate Work Study Program, understands that hard work in the classroom equals success and is motivated to go to college. Our mission is that every Cristo Rey Newark High School student graduates high school and college.

We look forward to hearing from you.
